Jagjeet “Jay” Singh-Sohal is a communications specialist with a background in journalism and filmmaking. He now runs his own consultancy business and is a volunteer with several charities and organisations.
A party member and activist since the age of 18, he is a former Chairman of Brunel Conservatives and now a Prospective Parliamentary Candidate.
A confident broadcaster and public speaker, he regularly appears in British and international media, and has hosted events for the British Army, the Prince’s Trust, Ernst & Young as well as spoken at Goldman Sachs, the United Services Insitute in New Delhi and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
His career as a qualified journalist includes time at ITV News and Sky News. He has won prestigious awards from the NUS/Daily Mirror and the British Sikh Association.
A keen military history enthusiast, he has over the past eight years undertaken research, written books, made films and spoken regularly about British Indian history and current affairs. In 2013 he founded the annual UK commemoration of “Saragarhi Day” while in 2014 he created the UK’s first national WW1 Sikh Memorial. In 2017, he briefed HRH The Prince of Wales about Saragarhi and how it can inspire young people to undertake public service.
He serves his country as a Captain in the Army Reserves, is a Trustee of the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation and a Fellowship Councillor with the Royal Society of Art.
